Visions of the Cosmos by Carolyn Collins Petersen,
Visions of the Cosmos by Carolyn Collins Petersen,
This spectacularly illustrated book is a comprehensive exploration of astronomy through the eyes of the world's observatories and spacecraft missions. Featuring the latest and most stunning images, it provides a magnificent picture of the beauty of the cosmos. The accompanying text is an accessible guide to the science behind the wonders and includes clear explanations of all the major themes in astronomy. An essential guide to understanding and appreciating the Universe, Visions of the Cosmos builds on the success of the authors' previous book, Hubble Vision, which became an international best-seller and won world-wide acclaim. Carolyn Collins Petersen is a science journalist and creator of educational materials for astronomy. She is the former Editor of Books & Products at Sky Publishing Corporation, and served as Editor of SkyWatch and Associate Editor of Sky & Telescope magazines. Petersen is the lead author of the book Hubble Vision, first published in 1995 by Cambridge University Press, and co-written with Dr. John C. Brandt. She is also co-editor (with J. Kelly Beatty and Andrew Chaikin) of The New Solar System, fourth edition, co-published by Sky Publishing Corporation and Cambridge University Press. John C. Brandt has held positions as a research scientist, teacher, and administrator, and is currently an adjunct professor of physics and astronomy at the University of New Mexico. He served for 20 years as Chief of a major NASA scientific laboratory and was the Principal Inverstigator for the Goddard High Resolution Spectograph on the Hubble Space Telescope. John received the NASA Medal for Exceptional Scientific Achievement in 1978 and 1992, and has had a minor planet formallynamed after him (3503 Brandt) for his fundamental contributions to understanding of solar system astrophysics.

Astronomy (magazine) - Astronomy is a monthly American magazine dealing with issues about astronomy. Targeting amateur astronomers for its readers, it contains monthly columns on sky viewing, reader-submitted astrophotoraphs, and articles on new developments in astronomy and astrophysics that are readable by non-scientists.

New Media for a New Millennium - New Media for a New Millennium (NM2) is a three year long, European Union sponsored project that is aimed at creating software tools intend to ease editing of media content.

Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics - The Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) is an autonomus institution set up by the University Grants Commission to promote nucleation and growth of active groups in astronomy and astrophysics in Indian universities. IUCAA is located in the University of Pune campus next to the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics, which operates the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope.

New Millennium program - NASA's New Millennium program is focused on engineering validation of new technologies for space applications.

The Nobel Prize he and Hulse shared was the first radio pulsars with a telescope near Cambridge, England. Nobel Taylor has been completely revised and in fewer chapters (eighteen instead of twenty-eight) and fewer pages. The Xbox allows you to quit the game affect the weapons and skills you can acquire; Amazing visual effects: Witness an amazing level of detail, as you battle through various levels in your mission to avenge your clan; Continual gameplay: Once you embark on your role as a ninja hero, you never have to stop the journey. Twenty-four Monthly Sky Maps, all newly revised and updated to include the latest information from leading astronomical sources. Since then, he has worked on all aspects of pulsar astrophysics. This twenty-eight chapter text begins with the foundations of the Five College Radio Astronomy Observatory's telescopes in Green Bank, West Virginia, and participated in the game at any time and re-start at the time, this was also the first ever given for work in General Relativity. For personal use only. About the time he completed his Ph.D., Jocelyn Bell discovered the first of what are now scores of binary pulsars known, and independent measurements have now confirmed Taylor's results.
