Introduction to Stellar Astrophysics by Erika Bohm-Vitense,

Introduction to Stellar Astrophysics by Erika Bohm-Vitense,
This textbook introduction to the basic elements of fundamental astronomy and astrophysics serves as a foundation for understanding the structure, evolution, and observed properties of stars. The first half of the book explains how stellar motions, distances, luminosities, colors, radii, masses and temperatures are measured or derived. The author then shows how data of these sorts can be arranged to classify stars through their spectra. Stellar rotation and stellar magnetic fields are introduced. Stars with peculiar spectra and pulsating stars also merit special attention. The endpoints of stellar evolutions are briefly described. There is a separate chapter on the Sun and a final one on interstellar absorption. The usefulness of this text is enhanced by the inclusion of problems for students, tables of astronomical constants, and a selective bibliography. This is an excellent textbook for undergraduate and beginning graduate students studying astronomy and astrophysics.

Theoretical Astrophysics: Stars and Stellar Systems by T. Padmanabhan,
Theoretical Astrophysics: Stars and Stellar Systems by T. Padmanabhan,
This second volume of a comprehensive three-volume work on theoretical astrophysics deals with stellar physics. After reviewing the key observational results and nomenclature used in stellar astronomy, the book develops a solid understanding of central concepts including stellar structure and evolution, the physics of stellar remnants, pulsars, binary stars, the sun and planetary systems, interstellar medium and globular clusters. Throughout, the reader's comprehension is developed and tested with more than seventy-five exercises. This indispensable volume will allow graduate students to master the material sufficiently to read and engage in research with heightened understanding. It can be used alone or in conjunction with Volume 1, which covers a wide range of astrophysical processes, and the forthcoming Volume 3, on galaxies and cosmology.

Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics - The Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) is an autonomus institution set up by the University Grants Commission to promote nucleation and growth of active groups in astronomy and astrophysics in Indian universities. IUCAA is located in the University of Pune campus next to the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics, which operates the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope.

Stellar astronomy - Stellar astronomy is the study of stars and the phenomena exhibited by the various forms/developmental stages of stars.

2005. For personal use only. Still as goofy as her students, English teacher Miss Yukari anchors the series with her juvenile mishaps and a strangely anachronistic student named Muryou Subaru is transferred to his school. Reflecting the immense interest and developments in the way that researchers analyze economic and financial time series. This book takes the student with an elegance and infectious enthusiasm for which his teaching is internationally renowned, illustrating the issues throughout with results from the forefront of research. When Muryou immediately clashes with student council vice president Kyoichi Moriguchi, the rivalry sparks a series of supernatural events that lead Hajime on an existential quest to find out the truth about his fellow students. For personal use only. It starts from first principles and should be readily accessible to first-year graduate students.
